Cooking Instructions

Step 1:

Set time. Cook in slow cooker on LOW for 6-7 hours [thawed] or 7-8 hours [frozen].

Step 2:

Remove steak and shred. You'll know the steak is done when it is tender and shreds easily. Return shredded steak back to pot and stir.

Step 3:

Plate and serve as desired.

Slow Cooker (Crockpot) Sizes

The size of your crockpot can affect the outcome of your meal. If your crockpot is smaller than what we recommend, you may need to cook your meal a little longer. If it’s larger than what we recommend you may need to shorten the cooking time. You will need to keep a close eye on the chicken as it cooks. Here are the crockpot sizes we recommend for each meal size to help cook your meals just right:

Smaller Portion (SP) - 3-Quart Crockpot
Regular Portion (RP) - 4-Quart Crockpot
Bigger Portion (BP) - 6-Quart Crockpot

Pressure Cooker (InstantPot) Cooking Instructions

Though Beehive Meals are primarily designed to be cooked within a slow cooker (Crockpot), many of our meals can be cooked in a Pressure Cooker (InstantPot). Please reference our Pressure Cooker Instructions in the helpful links below.

Serving Suggestions

The default is to serve carne asada as tacos, but there is no hard rule that says you should only enjoy the seasoned flank steak wrapped in a flour or corn tortilla. But if you do, we recommend topping the tacos off with a spoonful of salsa (red, green or pico de gallo) and/or guacamole, layered with chopped white onion and fresh cilantro, plus maybe a bit of crumbled queso fresco.

This dish is extremely flexible as you can also enjoy it in your favorite rice bowl with roasted vegetables, as cheesy quesillas, with fried eggs for breakfast, or save some leftovers for nachos the next day.
