Shipping & Delivery

When life gets hectic, there’s nothing like the excitement of delivery day to brighten someone's week!

Each meal has been carefully prepared in our state-of-the-art commercial kitchen, then frozen and stored with care until it reaches your doorstep. To ensure your meals stay frozen during transit, your shipment includes dry ice and is packed inside a Beehive Meals insulated cooler bag.

When your order arrives, your meals should be frozen or cold to the touch. For best quality and safety, we recommend transferring your meals from the cooler bag to your freezer as soon as possible.

Please note that some sauces or ingredients may feel soft or partially thawed upon arrival. This is common with ingredients like honey, barbecue sauce, or soy sauce, which do not freeze as solidly as other items. This is common and still considered safe.

How to Cook Beehive Meals

Our meals are designed to be cooked with a slow cooker, and times and temperatures are printed on the nutrition label on every meal. Here are some tips and tricks to help you along your way:

Follow Cooking Instructions Closely: Instructions will vary across each meal. Please note that some meals may require the addition of water while others require delayed add-ins (ie. pasta).

Cook from Thawed or Frozen: To thaw out a meal, place it in the refrigerator in a container (to prevent possible leaking) overnight or run under cool tap water to break up the ingredients so they fit inside the cooker. When cooking directly from frozen, cooking times will be increased.

Know your Equipment: Though each one of our meals comes with instructions and online support pages, we find that our customers use a wide variety of slow cookers, sizes, and features, causing a need to adjust cooking times occasionally. Adjust as needed if you find that your protein is under or overcooked.

Recommended Slow Cooker Size: To get the best results with your Beehive Meals, we suggest the following slow cooker sizes based on your selected serving size:

  • Small Family: 3-quart slow cooker
  • Medium Family: 4-quart slow cooker
  • Large Family: 6-quart slow cooker

You are welcome to use a different size if needed, but keep in mind that cooking times may need to be adjusted to ensure your meal is cooked properly.

Safe Internal Temperatures: To ensure food safety, make sure beef, pork, and ground meats reach an internal temperature of 160° and chicken reaches 165° before serving.

Storing The Freezer Meals

Every meal you receive is vacuum-sealed and frozen with care before being shipped to your door. After opening your package, we recommend transferring the meals from the insulated cooler bag to your freezer right away. When stored properly, the meals will stay safe for at least six months.

What is included in the gift box?

Each Beehive Meals Gift Box includes 5 meals (menu listed in the product description).

Gift Boxes do not include sides or additional ingredients that may be served with the meal. Your recipient can add their own rice, pasta, vegetables, bread, or other sides based on how they prefer to serve each meal.

Your meals are packaged with dry ice and ice packs in an insulated bag to help keep them cold during delivery. You can also include a personalized note with your gift!

How many people does the gift box feed?

The number of servings depends on the portion size you select:

  • Smaller Portion: 3–4 servings per meal
  • Regular Portion: 5–6 servings per meal
  • Bigger Portion: 7–8 servings per meal

Since each Gift Box includes 5 meals, you can choose the portion size that best fits the recipient's household and how they typically serve meals.

How does the recipient cook the meals that come in the gift box?

Gift Box meals are slow cooker meals, so they’re designed to be cooked in a crockpot or slow cooker. Each meal comes with cooking instructions to guide the recipient through the process.

Meals can typically be cooked from frozen or thawed, depending on the recipient’s preference. Some meals may require an additional ingredient, such as water, so be sure to follow the instructions for each specific meal.

The meals include the main protein or base, sauce, and seasonings. The recipient can add their favorite sides (like rice, tortillas, pasta, etc.) to complete the meal!

Where can the gift boxes be shipped?

Gift Boxes can be shipped anywhere in the United States, including all 50 states.

Can I choose a delivery day?

Gift Boxes cannot be scheduled for an exact delivery date. However, you can view the estimated shipping window on the product page before placing your order.

Once your Gift Box ships, you'll receive an email with tracking information, and you'll receive another notification when it has been delivered. This makes it easy to keep an eye on the delivery and follow up with your recipient when it arrives.

Can I substitute any meals in the gift box?

Gift Boxes come with a pre-selected menu, and individual meals cannot currently be substituted or swapped. Our meals are prepared and packaged through a standardized production process, which allows us to keep our menus and production consistent.

Can I add a personalized note to the gift box?

Yes! You can include a personalized note with your Gift Box. Just add your message when placing your order, and we'll include it with the gift.
