As we celebrate Beehive Meals' fifth anniversary, we're thrilled to reflect on the incredible journey we've had. From our humble beginnings to becoming one of the nation's fastest-growing companies, it has been a remarkable ride. Here’s a year-by-year look back at some of our favorite milestones:
In the summer of 2016, our Founder and CEO, Allyse Jackson, and her husband Adam were preparing for their first child when nesting mode kicked in.
To prepare for the baby’s arrival, Allyse began prepping freezer meals for slow cookers, a common meal prep technique for simplifying dinner time. By the time she was done, her freezer was overflowing. She realized she had way over-prepped for her little family, leading her to share meals with family, friends, and neighbors.
Their positive feedback laid the foundation for what was to come.
2019: Official Launch
During the summer of 2019, Adam's job instability prompted Allyse to take action. One morning, she wrote down a list of things she was good at, with 'freezer meals' at the top. That same day, Allyse shared a Facebook post asking if anyone would be interested in a service where she would prep and deliver freezer meals for their family.
The response was overwhelming, with the initial batch selling out instantly. Recognizing the demand, Allyse officially founded Beehive Meals in August 2019.
By September, our website, beehivemeals.com, went live, making it easier for families to order our delicious and convenient meals. In December, we kicked off our ‘Season of Giving’ initiative, marking the beginning of our commitment to community support.
In February 2020, we hired our first two employees, a significant step in scaling our operations. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March accelerated our growth as families sought safe and convenient meal options.
By July, we moved to a new location on Gordon Ave in Layton to accommodate our expanding operations. Despite the challenges, the demand for Beehive Meals continued to soar, and our team grew rapidly.
2021: Expanding Our Reach
January 2021 saw us relocating to a larger facility in Layton to support our growing business. This move was crucial in meeting the increasing demand for our meals and allowed us to serve even more families.
2022 was a year of significant milestones. In May, we won our first two Best of State awards, a testament to our commitment to quality and service.
By August, we were recognized as an Emerging Company in the Utah Business Fast 50.
In September, we expanded our delivery services to Idaho, marking our first move beyond Utah. October was another landmark month as we prepped and delivered our 1,000,000th freezer meal.
In November, we expanded to Arizona, and in December, we were honored as one of the 100 Companies Championing Women.
2023: Partnerships and Growth
In February 2023, we expanded to Las Vegas, bringing Beehive Meals to more families. Over the summer, we announced our partnership with the Salt Lake Bees, enhancing our community presence.
In October, we were recognized as an Emerging Elite in the MountainWest Capital Network’s 2023 Utah 100. By December, our team had grown to over 100 employees, reflecting our rapid expansion.
In July, we partnered with Show Up for Educators and First Lady Abby Cox, furthering our commitment to supporting education. September saw the formation of our charitable sister company, One Big Family, dedicated to giving back to the community.
January 2024 marked our expansion into a second warehouse space, a necessary step to meet the growing demand for our meals. In March, Allyse was named 2024 CEO of the Year by Utah Business, a recognition of her vision and leadership. We also celebrated prepping and delivering our 2,000,000th freezer meal. As we move into the latter part of the year, we are excited to share that Beehive Meals continues to grow and will shortly announce expanded delivery options, major sponsorships and collaborations, and national recognitions.
